HEALTH IMPACT AREA
Improves people’s health and well-being
A healthy community requires that all people have the opportunity to live a healthy and safe life. The Health Impact Area supports programs and strategic initiatives that promote individual health, community-changes and a stronger system of care for all.
United Way is committed to making sure that every person in our community can achieve optimal health and personal safety. To reach our goal, we invest in, and partner with programs and organization that provide:
ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE
Opportunities for all people to have access to receive the health care they need:
- regardless of their ability to pay; and,
- with access to transportation needed to reach care services, and
- to be free from substance abuse and its consequences; as well as to
- benefit from quality, affordable mental health care when they need it.
CAREGIVING
Assurance that older adults and people with disabilities are well cared for as needed by:
- supporting family members who provide care for them; and,
- ensuring that older adults and people with disabilities who need formal care in their daily living have access to the appropriate services as needed.
SAFETY
Assurance that all people have a safe, caring home environment.
NUTRITION
Assurance that people are able to maintain adequate nutrition
